GOAL! MAN UTD 1-0 BURTON (Rashford, 5)

Nightmare start for Burton as United find the breakthrough with their first attack. Carrick fizzes the ball in to Lingard in the area and he delicately lays it into the path of Marcus Rashford, who nonchalantly lifts the ball over Ripley. One chance, one goal.

GOAL! MAN UTD 2-0 BURTON (Rashford, 17)

Marcus Rashford doubles his and United’s tally in style, swiveling on Blind’s pass in field before unleashing an unstoppable near-post drive that cannons into the back of the net off the inside of the post. Simply superb!

GOAL! MAN UTD 3-0 BURTON (Lingard, 36)

Jesse Lingard gets in on the act as his effort from the edge of the area takes a wicked deflection off Turner before trickling past Ripley. Credit goes Martial though, after his sublime close control wards off a host of Burton players before finding Lingard in acres of space.

GOAL! MAN UTD 4-0 BURTON (Martial, 60)

Martial finally gets the goal his impressive performance deserves! Rashford pounces on Naylor’s fatal error at the back to release Martial, and he simply slots the ball past Ripley at his near post.

GOAL! MAN UTD 4-1 BURTON (Dyer, 90+1)

Burton end with a flourish and get the goal their gutsy display deserves. Mason sees his looping header strike the crossbar, Pereira and Darmian then clear the ball off the line but it falls for Lloyd Dyer, who drills the ball home.

So United concede at Old Trafford for the first time this season but that won’t take anything away from a fine performance, Burton unable to stop the holders from cruising into the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
